Doris Wood: Giving Back Through Her Art

NASHVILLE, TN -- During her two tours of duty in Iraq and Kuwait, Staff Sergeant Doris Wood often gave portraits and sketches as gifts to her fellow soldiers and officers. In 2009 and 2011, she was asked to paint leave-behind murals depicting her units -- the 267th Military Police from Dickson, Tennessee and the 230th Sustainment Brigade from Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Doris saw first-hand how her art lifted the spirits and morale of her unit. Home now and inspired by her experience overseas, Doris is using her artistic gifts to help make a living for herself and to help the families of fallen soldiers.

Doris will create a portrait from a photograph that you email to her.  She is donating 20% of her proceeds to families of fallen heroes.
